Sorcinelli opens on oxidized iron, black vanilla and leather — the smell of a bruise turning into armour — then lets jasmine and burnt caramel soften the heart before crème brûlée and Vov, the Italian egg liqueur, close it in something warm and gilded. Gothic, gourmand and deliberately raw.
