Named for the year Pompeii's amphitheatre was raised. Fig and mint open green and cooling, bergamot and cardamom lift them, and the composition turns steadily inward through black tea, incense and patchouli toward leather and agarwood.
How it wears. The opening is fresh and almost herbal, which makes the drydown a surprise — cedar, hide and oud, dry and smoky. Very little sweetness anywhere in it. Autumn and winter, and it holds close to the skin.
